A 25-year-old PBS engineer and retired Marine, Ivy Unruh, was tragically shot and killed outside her Wichita apartment by her estranged husband, Joshua Orlando.
Orlando, 29, made a 911 call to report the shooting and was apprehended at the scene. He has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
PBS Kansas President Victor Hogstrom described Unruh as a 'very motivated' and 'trustworthy' employee who was 'smart and very intelligent.'
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with funeral expenses, raising over $10,000 so far.
The police are investigating the incident as a case of domestic violence homicide.
