US President Donald Trump and Pakistani sources have hinted at the possibility of a second round of peace talks between the United States and Iran within the next 36 to 72 hours, according to the New York Post.
The development comes after talks were scheduled for earlier this week but fell apart due to Iran's refusal to confirm its participation.
Pakistani sources cited optimistic mediation efforts with Iran as the reason for the new timeline, while Trump responded to the news with a text message saying "It's possible! President DJT".
The news follows Trump's extension of the ceasefire with Iran, which was set to expire on Tuesday midnight, until Iran submits a "unified proposal".
A Pakistani source stated that Islamabad continues to engage with Iran and that the ceasefire is holding despite heightened rhetoric, indicating positive intent on both sides.
However, a US source told Reuters that Trump is willing to give Iran another three to five days of ceasefire, but it will not be open-ended.
