US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has revealed that Iran has signaled its willingness to talk about certain issues, despite not giving a formal response to the US proposal for ending the conflict in West Asia.

Rubio stated that an exchange of messages had indicated Iran's willingness to negotiate, but emphasized that the US had yet to receive a formal response.

The US secretary of state also clarified that the US could achieve its objectives in Iran without deploying any ground troops, adding that the operation could be expected to end within weeks.

Rubio listed the US' war objectives in Iran as destroying the country's missile and drone capabilities, factories producing them, navy, and air force.

He also urged European countries to contribute to securing free passage through the Strait of Hormuz if Iran decides to set up a tolling system.
