Civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu revealed that 4,335 Indian flights were cancelled due to the ongoing West Asia crisis.
Responding to CPI MP Sandosh Kumar P, Naidu stated that Indian carriers have cancelled up to 4,335 flights and foreign carriers have cancelled up to 1,187 flights so far.
The minister prioritized the safety of operations, adding that there was no reason for airlines to operate when airspace is closed.
Naidu also mentioned that constant communication with air regulators in affected countries ensured safe operations, with 2,19,780 people repatriated during the crisis.
Indian airlines have been announcing daily flight operations due to the fluctuating situation in West Asia, with Dubai airport temporarily shutting down on Monday, prompting Air India to cancel all flights to or from Dubai.
