At least five protestors demanding justice for a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister, who were killed in an explosion, were injured in a clash with security forces near Manipur CM's residence.

The incident occurred on Thursday night in Imphal West after hundreds of protestors joined a torch rally demanding justice for the two minors.

Security forces blocked the rally and a confrontation ensued as some protestors tried to continue, leading to the use of tear gas shells and mock bombs.

The clash lasted until 1am on Friday, with protestors retaliating by throwing stones and firing slingshots.

The ethnic violence in Manipur has claimed at least 260 lives and displaced around 60,000 people since May 2023.
