A massive investigation is underway in Bengaluru after a daring daylight robbery on Wednesday, in which ₹7.11 crore was stolen from a cash management system van. The police are now pursuing multiple leads, including a possible link to Andhra Pradesh, where teams from various agencies have been sweeping hotels, lodges, and areas around the Tirupati temple complex. According to Home Minister G Parameshwara, the robbers allegedly posed as RBI officials and intercepted the van near Jayanagar, holding the driver at gunpoint before making off with the cash near the Dairy Circle flyover. The operation may have involved at least three vehicles, including a Toyota Innova, a Maruti Suzuki Zen, and a Wagon R. Investigations have revealed that the suspects may have changed vehicles and moved the money, with one vehicle containing a registration number belonging to a different car. Surveillance footage shows the men visiting a bar two days before the robbery, and officers have pieced together their movements through extensive CCTV reviews. In a breakthrough, police have identified one suspect by comparing footage from Jayanagar and Dairy Circle with images of a previously arrested offender. Meanwhile, the Central Crime Branch has detained two people in Kalyan Nagar after discovering that the gang used a car with a fake Uttar Pradesh registration plate. The police believe the group may have followed the CMS van from the HDFC Bank branch where the cash was loaded, and have begun collecting details of all two-wheelers in the area at the time of the robbery. With the investigation expanding across borders, the police are working tirelessly to track down the suspects and recover the stolen cash.
