In a significant development, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has finalized an alliance with the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) banner. The dates for the polls have yet to be announced. According to sources, the AIADMK and PMK leaders have reached a consensus on seat allocation. At a joint press conference, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss expressed confidence in their alliance, stating that it will be a winning combination to defeat the DMK government and form a strong, welfare-oriented administration in the state. EPS hinted that more parties may soon join the alliance. He also mentioned that the AIADMK, BJP, and PMK will work together to achieve their collective goals. The alliance is seen as a strategic move, with EPS and former minister S P Velumani expected to visit Delhi later on Wednesday to discuss further. The AIADMK and BJP formed an alliance in April 2025, and while they contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections separately, the PMK remained with the NDA. This new development marks a significant shift in the Tamil Nadu political landscape, with the DMDK being the only party to not join the alliance.
