In a bold declaration, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) has predicted that the AIADMK-BJP coalition will win 210 out of 234 assembly seats in the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections. Speaking at the party's general council and executive committee meeting in Vanagaram, EPS announced that the coalition's combined vote share will be 41.33%. EPS, who is the chief ministerial candidate for the BJP-NDA in the 2026 assembly elections, cited the party's history and the vote share from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as evidence of their predicted victory. By combining the AIADMK's 23.05% vote share and the NDA's 18.28% vote share from the 2024 LS polls, EPS estimated that they are assured of at least 84 assembly seats. The AIADMK and BJP have formed an alliance to contest the 2026 assembly elections after separately contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party's highest decision-making bodies have passed 16 resolutions, including adopting the alliance with the BJP and condemning the ruling DMK over various issues. EPS accused Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin of rushing to complete his poll promises, which he claimed were not made in the last four and a half years. The AIADMK leader also challenged the DMK to find faults with the ten-year AIADMK regime that ended in 2021. EPS's declaration comes as the party seeks to regain power in Tamil Nadu, which it lost in 2021. The AIADMK leader emphasized the party's history and the welfare initiatives of its late leaders, M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, as the key factors that will lead to their predicted victory.
