Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a bold declaration that India will be free from Naxalism before the next conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police. Speaking at the inaugural session of the DGP/IGP annual conference in Raipur, Shah credited the Centre's sustained efforts over the past seven years for weakening left-wing extremism. He highlighted the significant progress made, including the reduction of Naxal-affected districts from 126 in 2014 to just 11. Shah also emphasized the government's comprehensive strategy to dismantle networks of extremism, narcotics, and organized crime. He called for a multi-pronged approach to combat narcotics and organized crime, ensuring that drug traffickers and criminals do not find space in the country. The 60th edition of the conference will be attended by top officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and the chiefs of central police organizations. The Prime Minister is expected to join the deliberations over the next two days.
