A Delhi court has granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) a seven-day extension of custody for gangster Anmol Bishnoi, who is being investigated in a terror conspiracy case linked to his jailed brother Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi's lawyers had initially raised concerns about threats to his life, citing social media posts allegedly targeting him. However, NIA prosecutors argued that further interrogation was necessary to uncover the extent of Bishnoi's involvement in the conspiracy. The NIA claims that Bishnoi, who has been absconding since 2022, was part of a terrorist-gangster syndicate involved in various crimes, including extortion, targeted killings, and furtherance of terror activities. He is alleged to have operated from abroad and is linked to 11 criminal cases across 11 police stations. Bishnoi's lawyers have maintained that all the necessary evidence is already in the NIA's possession and that their client is willing to cooperate without being remanded to custody. This development comes as the NIA continues to investigate Bishnoi's role in several high-profile cases, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, the shooting outside Salman Khan's house, and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Anmol Bishnoi is the 13th co-accused person arrested in connection with the terror syndicate led by his jailed brother Lawrence Bishnoi. He was chargesheeted by the NIA in March 2023 after investigation revealed his involvement in aiding designated terrorists Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi to carry out terrorist activities in the country between 2020 and 2023.
