Ballia Shopkeeper Shot Dead in Dispute; 5 Arrested After Fierce Encounter

A brutal dispute over goods purchase led to the shocking murder of a shopkeeper in Ballia's Raghopur village. Santosh Singh, alias Bagi, was shot dead with a country-made pistol around 10 pm on Thursday. The 42-year-old shopkeeper, who ran a small store in the village, was returning home when the incident occurred. He sustained fatal injuries to the head and abdomen. Hours after the murder, five suspects were arrested in a fierce encounter with the police. The incident took place after the police stopped a group of suspicious individuals for questioning, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Two of the arrested individuals, Manjeet Singh and Sandeep Singh, sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the encounter. The police have identified the arrested individuals as Manjeet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Atul Singh, Prabhat Singh, and Praveen Singh. The suspects were found to be in possession of three motorcycles, a country-made pistol, and cartridges. The police have registered a case against Praveen Singh and two unidentified individuals under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway. The police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder and the involvement of the arrested suspects.
