An adviser to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was stopped at New Delhi airport due to his name being on a security-related blacklist.

Zahed Ur Rahman, the adviser on policy and strategy, was held for verification after his name was flagged during a security check.

He has a history of making anti-India statements, which led to his name being on the watchlist.

Despite being granted a one-time exemption, Zahed Ur Rahman decided to return to Bangladesh via Colombo.

Bangladesh's foreign ministry summoned India's chargé d’affaires to register a protest over the incident.
