Bengaluru Auto Driver Flees with Traffic Cop After Causing Crash

A shocking incident unfolded in Bengaluru on November 27, when an autorickshaw driver, accused of driving on the wrong side of the road, crashed into a scooter and sped away with a traffic police officer still inside. The officer had been conducting an on-the-spot inquiry into the driver's alleged violation when the autorickshaw suddenly accelerated, leaving the officer to cling on for dear life as he fell out of the moving vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, the autorickshaw had entered a one-way stretch in Sadashivanagar between 9 pm and 9:15 pm, hitting a scooter on its way. The traffic police stopped the autorickshaw and questioned the driver, who initially cooperated before making a daring escape. The officer, who sustained minor injuries, was later helped by two policemen and local residents. A thorough investigation is underway, and the autorickshaw driver has been charged with several offenses, including putting public safety at risk, causing an accident, obstructing a police officer, damaging government property, and carrying a weapon. A dagger was found inside the vehicle during inspection, adding to the severity of the incident.
