Bengaluru BPO Managers Held Hostage in Fake Police Raid; 8 Arrested, Including Constable

In a shocking incident, four manager-level employees of a Bengaluru-based BPO firm were allegedly kidnapped by a gang of eight individuals posing as police officers. The accused, including a police constable from Kolar, allegedly extorted ₹8.90 lakh from the operations manager and demanded more money. The ordeal began around midnight on Friday when the accused, claiming to be conducting a cybercrime inspection, abducted the BPO staff from Koramangala. They were held hostage at a location in Kolar's Malur district. However, the police swung into action after receiving a complaint on the emergency helpline 112 on Saturday morning. Four teams were formed to track the case, and the accused were arrested. Two vehicles used in the kidnapping were also seized. According to the police, most of the accused are from Kolar district and were involved in various jobs. The arrested constable is posted at the Malur town police station. Home Minister G Parameshwara has promised to take disciplinary and legal action against the police personnel involved in the incident. The police have warned of 'merciless action' against those involved in such activities. The police have praised the swift response to the complaint, which led to the successful rescue of the hostages and the arrest of the accused. Further investigation is underway to unravel the details of the case.
