The Bengaluru Central Jail scandal has taken a new turn as senior police officers have written to Meta, seeking assistance in tracing the WhatsApp accounts responsible for spreading the leaked videos. The footage, which appears to show high-profile inmates engaging in illicit activities, has raised serious security concerns and sparked a thorough investigation. According to sources, the police have formally requested Meta to provide details of the mobile devices used to record and circulate the material. Investigators believe that the footage was captured at different times, with one video dating back to 2023 and another, showing liquor bottles with a newspaper dated November 6, 2025, being more recent. The inquiry has already led to the questioning of a prisoner believed to have recorded the earlier video, who claimed that his mobile phone was seized during raids in 2023 and had no knowledge of the footage resurfacing. Actor Dhanveer has also been interrogated twice, with police finding evidence that the videos were received on his phone. However, he denied playing any role in making the videos viral. As the investigation unfolds, senior officers are now considering summoning Vijayalakshmi, wife of jailed actor Darshan, to explain her role in the chain of transmission. The leaked videos show several high-profile inmates, including a serial rapist and murderer, and suspects linked to terrorism using phones in the facility. If confirmed, this raises serious security concerns and highlights the need for a thorough probe. The police are awaiting Meta's response, which is expected to provide crucial information on the IP addresses and mobile numbers linked to the circulation of the videos. The inquiry is ongoing, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
