A 78-year-old Bengaluru resident, Gangadhar, was left stunned when a police officer visited his home inquiring about his car. The reason for the visit was linked to a massive daytime robbery where a Toyota Innova with a registration number matching Gangadhar's Swift was allegedly used to steal ₹7.11 crore from an ATM logistics vehicle. According to the police, the gang posed as officials from the Income Tax Department and the Reserve Bank of India before carrying out the heist. They used a forged number plate matching Gangadhar's car, leaving him bewildered as to why his number was chosen from the thousands of vehicles in Bengaluru. Gangadhar, who previously worked in Dubai before starting his business in Bengaluru, expressed his shock and surprise at the incident. He revealed that the police officer who visited his home was soft-spoken and inquired about his vehicle. In a significant breakthrough, investigators have uncovered a possible insider link in the case. Two men, including a serving police constable, have been detained for questioning. The constable is from the Govindarajanagar police station, and the other individual is a former employee of CMS Info System Limited, the company that manages the robbed ATM van. The police suspect that the constable and the former employee may have hatched the elaborate robbery together. The fact that the van belonged to the constable's former employer has deepened suspicions of an insider-driven operation. The turning point in the investigation came when analyzing mobile tower data from the robbery location revealed that the constable and the former CMS employee exchanged multiple calls during the heist. Call Detail Records further showed consistent communication in the days leading up to the crime. The robbers are believed to be hiding in Tamil Nadu or Andhra Pradesh. Despite immediate border alerts and vehicle checks on the day of the heist, the gang had managed to slip out unnoticed. The police are now working to track down the suspects and bring them to justice.
