In a major breakthrough, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced the arrest of three men in connection with the daring daylight robbery of an ATM cash refill van on November 19. The suspects, who were part of a gang of six to eight people, were apprehended within 54 hours after the crime, with ₹5.76 crore of the stolen money recovered. The heist, which is believed to be the city's biggest so far, took place when a group of unidentified men posing as RBI officials intercepted an ATM cash van in Bengaluru and fled with nearly ₹7 crore. The gang, which arrived in a car bearing a Government of India sticker, stopped the van on the pretext of verifying documents and then forced the staff and the cash into their own vehicle. A massive manhunt involving over 200 police personnel was launched, with teams fanning out across Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. More than 30 people were questioned, and technical clues, field intelligence, CCTV footage, and vehicle movement data were analyzed to piece together the crime. The investigation revealed that the suspects had planned and executed the robbery with the help of an insider, who was later identified as a constable from the Govindarajanagar police station. The constable had frequent communication with a former employee of CMS Infosystems, who had recently resigned and had become acquainted with the constable. The getaway vehicle used by the gang was later found abandoned near Tirupati in Chittoor district, and police say the investigation is continuing to track down the remaining members of the group. The arrests bring relief to the people of Bengaluru, who had been on edge after the daring heist.
