Bengaluru has solidified its reputation as a traffic hotspot, ranking second globally and first in India in the TomTom Traffic Index 2025. The city's average congestion level stands at 74.4%, with drivers wasting an average of 36 minutes and 9 seconds to cover just 10 kilometers. This is a 2-minute and 4-second increase from 2024, with the average distance covered in 15 minutes decreasing to 4.2 kilometers. During morning rush hour, commuters face a grueling 41 minutes and 6 seconds to travel 10 kilometers, with a congestion level of 94.2% and an average speed of 14.6 kilometers per hour. Evening rush hour proves equally challenging, with a travel time of 45 minutes and 27 seconds and a congestion level of 115.2%. The data reveals that Bengaluru residents lost a staggering 168 hours to rush hour traffic in 2025, equivalent to 7 days and 40 minutes. This is a 12-hour and 46-minute increase from the previous year. Pune, another Indian city, ranks fifth globally in terms of congestion, with an average level of 71.1%. The city's commuters face similar challenges, with an average time of 33 minutes and 20 seconds to cover 10 kilometers. Rush hour travel times are equally daunting, with a morning commute of 38 minutes and 13 seconds and an evening commute of 41 minutes and 40 seconds. The increased congestion has resulted in Pune residents losing 152 hours to rush hour traffic in 2025, equivalent to 6 days and 8 hours. This is an 8-hour and 56-minute increase from the previous year.
