In a significant address at the Deendayal Memorial Lecture in Jaipur, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat underscored the enduring significance of Deendayal Upadhyaya's 'Integral Humanism' philosophy, which has remained unchanged for six decades. This concept, also known as 'Ekatma Manavvad', emphasizes the importance of 'dharma' or a way of life that prioritizes collective well-being. According to Bhagwat, Integral Humanism is not bound to any specific religion, sect, or creed, but rather represents a universal pursuit of happiness and harmony. He stressed that the philosophy promotes balance and harmony, and is not compatible with extremism or the exploitation of resources. Despite rapid scientific advancements, Bhagwat noted that technology has not necessarily led to increased peace or contentment, citing the example of the negative consequences of over-reliance on medicines. He also highlighted the issue of global inequality, pointing out that a small percentage of the world's population consumes the majority of its resources. Bhagwat's address was delivered at an event organized by the Ekatma Manav Darshan Research and Development Foundation, and was attended by Mahesh Sharma, the chairperson of the foundation.
