Bihar's new government has outlined ambitious plans to drive industrial growth and job creation, aiming to make the state a hub for technology and innovation. In its first cabinet meeting since re-election, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's team approved proposals for 25 new sugar mills, 11 modern townships, and a slew of infrastructure projects, including a defence corridor and semiconductor manufacturing park. The cabinet also set its sights on establishing Bihar as a leader in artificial intelligence, with plans to collaborate with international experts and companies to drive progress. The government aims to create a 'new age economy' rooted in technology and service-based innovations. With a significant youth population, Bihar has the potential to become the fastest-developing state, according to Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit. The government has already provided five million jobs and employment opportunities between 2020 and 2025, and aims to create 10 million more over the next five years. The cabinet meeting also marked the beginning of a new legislative session, which will see a six-day assembly session starting on December 1. During this session, Chief Minister Kumar will seek a vote of confidence, and Pro tem speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav will administer the oath to the newly elected assembly members. The Bihar government's commitment to accelerating industrialisation has gained momentum in recent years, and the cabinet meeting has set the tone for a new era of growth and development in the state.
