Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra on Monday escalated his attack on the state government, stating that the ongoing leadership crisis is crippling the administration. He alleged that the ruling party's power struggle has diverted focus from crucial issues, ultimately harming the state's farmers. Vijayendra revealed that at least seven to eight senior legislators and ministers are vying for the chief minister's position, resulting in a complete collapse of the administrative machinery. The BJP intends to exploit the upcoming winter assembly session to demand accountability on pressing issues, particularly agriculture and long-standing grievances from north Karnataka. The opposition party has vowed to prioritize discussions on north Karnataka's concerns, farmers, and irrigation during the initial days of the session. Vijayendra criticized the government for ignoring farmers' needs, citing the discontinuation of the PM Kisan Yojana and the Raita Vidya Nidhi scholarship. When asked about the possibility of a BJP-led government if a Congress faction attempts to break away, Vijayendra dismissed the idea, stating that the voters have clearly mandated the Congress to rule. He emphasized that the BJP will function as an effective opposition and not pursue government formation. The BJP leader also accused the state government of mishandling federal schemes, attempting to shift blame to the Centre for lapses. He argued that the state must submit progress reports to secure central funding, and simply blaming the Centre for delays is unjustifiable. The BJP's criticism comes as the state prepares for the winter assembly session, scheduled to begin on December 8 in Belagavi.
