Karnataka's former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has signaled that the state BJP unit will take action if the Congress government, plagued by internal instability, collapses. Gowda stated that the party would follow instructions from the national leadership, potentially forming a new government if the party high command decides against holding mid-term elections. Gowda's remarks come as the opposition leader, R Ashoka, intensifies his criticism of the ruling party. Ashoka has accused the Congress high command of weakness, calling for the immediate announcement of a new chief minister. He also vowed to raise key issues, including the problems of north Karnataka, irrigation, and school closures, during the upcoming legislative session. Ashoka's comments were met with a strong response from D.K. Shivakumar, the Congress leader. Shivakumar dismissed Ashoka's criticism, saying that the opposition should focus on its own party affairs rather than commenting on Congress matters. He also emphasized his commitment to the Congress party, stating that he is a 'Congressman born as a Vokkaliga.' The BJP's stance on potential intervention in Karnataka's government has been clarified by Gowda's statement. While Ashoka has warned that even if the Congress invites the BJP to form a government, the party will not accept it, Gowda's comments suggest that the BJP is prepared to take action if the situation arises.
