Security forces have established a forward operating base in the Karregutta Hills, a long-time Maoist stronghold along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The 'Suraksha Evam Jan Suvidha Camp', set up on November 4, marks a significant step in curbing Maoist activities in the region. The camp, located near Tadpala village in Bijapur district, will serve as a base for the CRPF's 196th Battalion and CoBRA's 205th Battalion. This strategic move aims to strengthen operational reach, facilitate public services, and provide training for jungle warfare and field craft. A major operation earlier this year led to the elimination of 31 Maoists and the recovery of 35 weapons, 450 IEDs, and over 12,000kg of supplies. Since the camp's establishment, security personnel have safely defused 14 IEDs in the area. The Chhattisgarh government has also made significant strides in expanding public services under the 'Niyad Nella Naar' scheme, including roads, electricity, water, healthcare, and education facilities in nearby villages. With the new base, coordinated operations along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border are expected to intensify, aiming to bring stability to the region. Bijapur district has seen a notable increase in security presence, with 22 camps established since 2024. The efforts have resulted in 202 Maoist deaths, 749 surrenders, and 1,006 arrests. As the region continues to develop, the 'Suraksha Evam Jan Suvidha Camp' stands as a testament to the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
