Chhattisgarh Factory Fire Claims 2 Lives, Injures 1 in Bilaspur

A devastating fire broke out at a furniture-making unit in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district on Tuesday, claiming the lives of two workers and leaving one severely injured. The fire, caused by a spark from a motor that ignited turpentine oil, raged through the Mittal Furniture factory in the Sirgitti industrial area for over 10 hours before being brought under control. According to police, around 10 workers and artisans managed to escape the inferno, but one, Ritesh Shukla, suffered severe burns and later succumbed to his injuries in Raipur. Another worker, Abhijeet alias Ayush Suryavanshi, was trapped inside the factory and was found dead on Wednesday morning. Rescue teams faced difficulties in entering the premises due to intense flames and heavy smoke, and intermittent explosions continued inside. A third person, Daksh, suffered partial burn injuries and is being treated at a hospital. An investigation has been launched into the incident, and a case has been registered. The police are working to determine the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. The incident highlights the importance of ensuring workplace safety and adhering to fire safety protocols.
