In a bid to dispel internal divisions, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar met for the second time in four days at Shivakumar's residence in Bengaluru. The meeting, which was described as a 'breakfast meeting between brothers,' aimed to present a united front amidst reports of power sharing disagreements. The two leaders, who have been at the center of speculation over their roles in the government, sought to reassure the public that they remain aligned in purpose and direction. CM Siddaramaiah emphasized their bond, saying, 'I and D. K. Shivakumar will always remain as brothers. We are in the same party, follow one ideology, and will work together in the 2028 Legislative Assembly elections.' The renewed display of unity comes ahead of the winter session of the Karnataka legislature, which begins on December 8 in Belagavi. Party sources indicate that the central leadership has instructed both leaders to settle their differences before the session begins. When asked about a possible visit to Delhi, CM Siddaramaiah replied, 'So far, no communication. If they call us, we will definitely go.' The meeting also touched upon the government's response to an anticipated non-confidence motion from the BJP and JD(S). CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar plan to take an all-party delegation to Delhi on December 8 to meet Karnataka's MPs. Shivakumar reiterated that decisions on a cabinet reshuffle would rest with the Congress leadership. The central leadership of the Congress is expected to call both leaders for consultations after the current Parliament session ends on December 19. While official discussions will focus on issues affecting farmers and the management of Karnataka's water resources, party leaders acknowledge that the leadership issue will also be on the table.
