In a shocking incident, Shidlaghatta city municipal commissioner Amrutha Gowda has filed a police complaint against Congress leader Rajeev Gowda, accusing him of verbal abuse and life threats. The alleged incident occurred when Gowda's banner was removed from the town, following a complaint. The municipal commissioner claims she was subjected to obscene language and threats over the phone, leaving her 'deeply hurt and mentally traumatized'. She fears for her safety, given that she lives alone at the headquarters. Gowda, however, denies making any threats and claims that his audio was edited. He admits to using strong language, but insists he never threatened the officer's life. He claims he was frustrated with the officer's actions and made a mistake. The incident has sparked a sharp political reaction, with opposition parties BJP and JD(S) demanding Rajeev Gowda's immediate arrest. Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has expressed concern, questioning how women officers can function independently if they are treated this way. The Shidlaghatta City Municipal Council employees have staged a demonstration, demanding action against Rajeev Gowda for allegedly threatening the municipal commissioner. The police have registered a case against him, invoking several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and have launched an investigation.
