In a major crackdown on underground betting, the Delhi Police's Special Staff West has busted a cricket betting racket in Vikaspuri, arresting two individuals. The operation, which was carried out on Saturday, targeted a syndicate operating from the second floor of Janta Flats in Budhela Village. According to officials, a team of Special Staff West received specific information about the betting racket and conducted discreet surveillance in the area. After completing necessary legal formalities, the team raided the premises and found two individuals, identified as Gaurav and Himanshu, actively engaged in betting on an Australian Women's Cricket League match through the 'Plus Project 2025' application on a laptop. The police seized several electronic devices, including two LEDs, six mobile phones, one laptop, and one recorder used to run the betting operations. An FIR has been registered under Sections 3, 4, 9, and 55 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act at Vikaspuri police station. This is the second major betting racket to be busted by the Delhi Police this year. In April, the Crime Branch had arrested six individuals for operating a cricket betting racket in Paharganj during the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The syndicate was found to be operating in offline mode, taking bets over phone calls and using an app to collect and manage betting data. The Delhi Police has pledged to continue cracking down on underground betting operations, ensuring that those involved face the full force of the law.
