A new cyclonic storm, Cyclone 'Ditwah', has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to make landfall on the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coast by November 30. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for several districts in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Nagapattinam, and Thiruvallur, with yellow and orange alerts in place for November 27, 28, and 29. Meanwhile, Cyclone 'Senyar', which formed in the Strait of Malacca, has moved away from the Indian coast and is heading towards Malaysia. Weather experts have termed this a 'rare' occurrence, as it is the first time a cyclonic storm of this strength has been recorded in the Strait of Malacca. Cyclone 'Ditwah' is named after a submission from Yemen, and is currently located near Pottuvil, about 700 km southeast of Chennai. The IMD has predicted that the cyclonic storm will move north-northwest and reach the coast of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh by early November 30. The cyclone is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas to the affected areas. In a separate development, Cyclone 'Senyar' is expected to impact Northern Sumatra with heavy rains and potential flooding. The system has been described as 'rarest of rare' by many, with one user on X saying it is 'one of the rarest ever recorded near the Malacca Strait, making this a historic meteorological event.'
