Cyclone Ditwah Nears Andhra Pradesh: Heavy Rains and Gusty Winds Expected

A powerful cyclone is bearing down on South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, with the State Disaster Management Authority warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds in the region. Cyclone Ditwah, which formed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, is expected to bring severe weather conditions to Chittoor, Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, and Sri Sathya Sai districts over the next two days. According to the India Meteorological Department, the cyclone is intensifying and is likely to make landfall in the coming days. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the region, causing disruptions to daily life. Fishermen have been advised to stay off the coast, while farmers are being told to take necessary precautions to protect their crops. District administrations are on high alert, with control rooms activated to coordinate emergency responses. The cyclone is currently centered northwest of Batticaloa and Hambantota in Sri Lanka, approximately 640 km northwest of Puducherry and 730 km northwest of Chennai. The situation is being closely monitored, with officials warning of significant rainfall and wind impacts in the coming days.
