Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are bracing for the impact of Cyclone Ditwah, which is rapidly approaching the Indian coastline. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain warnings for Chennai and other regions, with Chennai airport cancelling 47 flights due to the weather disturbance. An orange alert has been issued for Chennai, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected in surrounding districts. The rest of Tamil Nadu remains under a yellow alert, while Cuddalore and Puducherry have been issued a red alert. The cyclonic storm is expected to move northwards, with the IMD predicting it to be centered over the southwest Bay of Bengal within a minimum distance of 70 km from the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coastline by noon, and 30 km by evening. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and follow evacuation orders from local authorities if necessary.
