Cyclone Ditwah Update: Storm's Latest Location, Landfall Predictions, and Safety Precautions in India

A powerful cyclone is bearing down on India's southern coast, bringing heavy rain and disrupting normal life in several districts. In Tamil Nadu, Ramanathapuram and Nagapattinam have been hit hardest, with over 6,000 relief camps set up and 28 disaster response teams on standby. As of Saturday evening, Cyclone Ditwah was located about 80 km east of the Vedaranyam coast and 100 km southeast of Karaikal. The storm is expected to move north-northwestwards, reaching the southwest Bay of Bengal near North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh by Monday morning. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to extremely heavy rain in some areas, particularly in Tiruvallur and Ranipet districts. To prepare for the storm's landfall, 14 NDRF teams have been deployed in vulnerable districts, with additional teams allocated for Puducherry and Chennai. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and follow evacuation orders.
