A low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is forecasted to intensify into Cyclone Senyar by November 26, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The cyclone is expected to bring heavy rains, strong winds, and rough sea conditions to several coastal regions in India. The IMD has issued a weather warning for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall between November 25 and November 29. The low-pressure system is also expected to trigger rains in some coastal districts of Odisha between November 25 and 27. IMD scientist Sanjeev Dwivedi had previously stated that the system would move in a west-northwest direction and strengthen, potentially developing into Cyclone Senyar. The name 'Senyar' is derived from the United Arab Emirates, meaning 'lion', and is the next cyclonic storm in the North Indian Ocean, as per the roster. Residents in the affected areas are advised to avoid sea travel, secure essential supplies, and follow official updates. If necessary, they should move to safe shelters to ensure their safety during the cyclone.
