Deadly Crash in Delhi's Vasant Kunj: Mercedes Driver Arrested After Hitting 3 Pedestrians

A devastating car crash occurred early Sunday morning near Ambience Mall in Delhi's Vasant Kunj, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The victims, all employees of a local restaurant, were struck by a speeding Mercedes while waiting for an autorickshaw at an auto stand. The driver of the Mercedes, Shivam, a 29-year-old resident of Karol Bagh, was behind the wheel when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to a diversion. The car crashed into a roadside pole, hitting the three pedestrians. According to police, the incident occurred at around 2:33 am when Shivam was returning home with his wife and brother after attending a wedding. The police control room received a PCR call, and the officers arrived at the scene to find the damaged Mercedes. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel confirmed that the three pedestrians were taken to the hospital, where 23-year-old Rohit Singh succumbed to his injuries. The other two injured individuals are receiving treatment. The driver, Shivam, has been arrested and is in police custody. The police are questioning him and recording statements from the two injured individuals as part of their investigation. Necessary legal action is being taken against the accused. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving practices.
