Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has urged residents to remain vigilant and continue following pollution control measures, despite the recent improvement in air quality. A western disturbance is expected to bring dense haze and fog to the city, potentially worsening pollution levels. According to the weather department, the impact of the western disturbance will be visible in Delhi over the next couple of days, with a strong possibility of heavy haze. The minister appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and to keep their vehicles off the roads, unless absolutely necessary. Sirsa also emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining clean air. He warned that biomass burning contributes significantly to air pollution and appealed to citizens not to burn garbage or light fires at night. The minister's warning comes as Delhi recently lifted its GRAP 4 restrictions, which had been put in place to curb air pollution. While the restrictions have been lifted, vehicles below BS-VI norms are still allowed to enter the city. Sirsa urged citizens to continue following pollution control measures to prevent a fresh spike in pollution levels. "We all need to work together to keep Delhi's air clean," Sirsa said. "The clear weather we saw over the past couple of days may not last, and we must remain on high alert to prevent a fresh spike in pollution levels."
