A Delhi court has delivered a guilty verdict against three individuals, including a junior engineer from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), in a high-profile bribery case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered the case in 2024. According to the court, Surender Kumar Sharma, the MCD junior engineer, and his accomplices, Surender Kumar Jangra and Ramesh Chand Jain, had conspired to accept a bribe from a complainant, Arun Kumar Gupta, in exchange for allowing him to construct a house. The court found sufficient evidence to prove that Sharma had accepted the bribe and that Jangra and Jain had acted in connivance with him. The court also rejected the defence arguments, stating that the testimonies of the complainant and witnesses were consistent and supported by scientific and electronic evidence. The court has scheduled the hearing for the quantum of sentence on January 5.
