A shocking incident has come to light at a private hospital in Delhi's Krishna Nagar area, where a cleaning staff allegedly stole gold jewellery from a woman who had passed away just moments before. According to the police, the woman, who was a resident of Shahdara, was rushed to the Goyal Hospital on November 11 with a medical emergency. Her son, Naveen Kumar Gupta, had taken her to the emergency ward, where doctors advised him to shift her to another hospital for further treatment. While Gupta stepped out to call an ambulance, the woman's jewellery, including earrings and an ear-chain, went missing. The family initially suspected hospital staff of mishandling the belongings but were initially denied any knowledge about the missing items. However, after performing the last rites and returning to the hospital, the family approached the police, who confirmed that the hospital staff had indeed stolen the jewellery. The CCTV footage showed the cleaning staff taking the ear-chain. A case has been registered under Section 303(2) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Krishna Nagar police station, and an investigation is underway. The hospital handed over the missing earrings to the family, but the chain remains unrecovered. Gupta expressed his desire to prevent others from facing similar situations when grieving the loss of a loved one. The incident has raised concerns about the security and accountability of hospital staff in handling patients' belongings.
