Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has issued a stern warning to polluting industries and construction sites in the city, as the national capital grapples with severe air quality. The AQI in Delhi has reached a worrying 398, putting the city's air in the 'very poor' category. Sirsa announced that any construction work carried out in the city during the bad weather will face strict legal action, with the responsible officials also being held accountable. He emphasized that the Delhi government will take immediate action against polluting industries operating within the city, including sealing them. The minister's warning comes as Delhi is bracing for a 'western disturbance' and 'bad weather' from Saturday evening, with a thick blanket of fog enveloping the city. The temperature has also dropped, with the maximum temperature recorded at 16.9 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 6.1 degrees Celsius. For Sunday, the India Meteorological Department has predicted 'partly clouded sky' with 'cold day conditions at isolated places' and dense to very dense fog likely in the morning hours. Sirsa urged Delhiites to cooperate in making the city's air clean and safe. The Delhi government has already implemented stage 4 of the GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) to combat air pollution, but despite this, complaints about construction work are being received. Sirsa's warning serves as a reminder of the government's commitment to take strict action against those violating the rules and putting the health of Delhi's residents at risk.
