Delhi's air quality took a drastic turn for the worse on Friday, slipping into the 'very poor' category after a brief respite. According to the Central Pollution Control Board's Air Quality Index (AQI), the overall AQI stood at 310, with Jahangirpuri and Anand Vihar being the most severely affected areas, recording an AQI of 395. The city witnessed a drop in air quality after two days of marginal improvement, with 'poor' air quality reported in the previous two days. The Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) predicts that the air quality will remain 'very poor' for the next six days. Experts attribute the poor air quality to the low wind speed, which is less than 10 kmph, hindering the dispersion of pollutants. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that the maximum temperature in Delhi will range between 21-23 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be between 6-8 degrees Celsius. The air quality in Delhi is categorized as follows: 'good' (0-50), 'satisfactory' (51-100), 'moderate' (101-200), 'poor' (201-300), 'very poor' (301-400), and 'severe' (401-500). The current air quality in several areas, including Lodhi road, has been recorded as 'moderate', while 24 stations have reported 'very poor' air quality.
