A devastating incident occurred at the Dubai Air Show yesterday, as a Tejas fighter jet, built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), crashed during an aerial display. The shocking moment was captured on camera, showing the jet plummeting towards the ground before bursting into flames. According to the Indian Air Force (IAF), the pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. The IAF expressed deep regret over the loss of life and offered condolences to the bereaved family. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash. Eyewitnesses described the scene as a thick plume of smoke billowed from the crash site, with black smoke rising over Al Maktoum International Airport. The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. local time, while the aircraft was attempting a maneuver in front of a large crowd. This is the second known crash involving a Tejas aircraft, following an incident in 2024 near Jaisalmer. The Dubai Air Show, which is currently underway, has drawn industry professionals from around 150 countries and features leading aerospace firms such as Airbus, Lockheed Martin, and Bombardier. The biennial Dubai Air Show, celebrating its 40th anniversary year, has seen significant aircraft orders from Emirates and FlyDubai. The event is scheduled to conclude on Friday, November 21, but the tragic incident has cast a shadow over the proceedings.
