In a recent podcast interview with Indian podcaster Nikhil Kamath, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed his admiration for Indian talent and shared his vision for the future of work. The highly anticipated conversation, which covered a range of topics from investment advice to the impact of Artificial Intelligence, has been making waves since its release on Sunday. Musk, who has reshared the interview on his X handle, praised the US for benefiting from Indian talent, stating that "America has been an immense beneficiary of talent from India." He also acknowledged the potential misuse of the H-1B visa program but emphasized the need to strike a balance between immigration policies and the influx of skilled workers. Looking ahead, Musk predicted that advancements in AI and robotics will make working "optional" within the next two decades, allowing people to pursue hobbies and interests instead of being tied to a 9-to-5 job. He used the analogy of growing one's own vegetables or buying them from a store to illustrate this point. The tech mogul also expressed his enthusiasm for expanding Starlink, his satellite internet service, to India, stating that it would be a "great" opportunity for the company to operate in the country. With Starlink already available in 150 countries, Musk sees India as a key market for growth. When asked for advice for young entrepreneurs in India, Musk emphasized the importance of being a "net contributor to society," encouraging them to aim for a balance between taking and giving. He also shared a personal connection to India, revealing that his partner Shivon Zilis is "half-Indian" and one of their children's middle name is 'Sekhar,' after the renowned Indian-American astrophysicist S Chandrasekhar.
