{ "title": "Ethiopia's Volcanic Ash Cloud Set to Clear Indian Skies by Wednesday, Heads Towards China", "article": "A massive ash cloud from the Hayli Gubbi volcanic eruption in Ethiopia is making its way across India, affecting aviation operations in major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the ash plume entered India on Monday evening and traversed Gujarat and Rajasthan before reaching Delhi. As of Tuesday, the ash cloud was moving east and northeast across India, with IMD expecting it to clear the region by Wednesday. The main concern is for aviation due to the high-altitude ash particles, but IMD assures that there is no impact on the surface weather or human exposure. "The ash particles are moving at a height of 8km to 15km, and the wind speed is around 100kmph to 150kmph, which means they won't settle on the ground," explained M Mohapatra, director general of IMD. The ash cloud is expected to move towards China through east and northeast India. Meanwhile, IMD has warned of heavy and widespread rain over south India, with a low-pressure area intensifying into a depression over the Strait of Malacca. In other weather news, heavy rainfall is forecasted for Tamil Nadu till November 30, Kerala and Mahe on November 26, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema between November 29 and December 1. The minimum temperatures in many parts of India are below 6°C, with the lowest recorded at 6.3°C in Hissar, Haryana."
