Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis marked the 17th anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack by emphasizing the importance of decisive action against terrorism. Speaking at the Gateway of India, Fadnavis suggested that if India had taken a strong stance in the aftermath of the attack, future threats could have been deterred. He referenced the 'Operation Sindoor' military action in Pakistan following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, where Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure. Fadnavis stated that understanding the severity of the Mumbai attack as a threat to national sovereignty would have prompted India to take a similar operation, making it unlikely for the country to be targeted again. He praised the security agencies for seizing a large quantity of explosives and reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stance on the impossibility of coexisting with terror. The event, organized by the Divyaj Foundation, honored the victims and martyrs of the 2008 attack and the Pahalgam incident, underscoring the ongoing threat of terrorism and the need for vigilance and unity.
