A devastating pile-up on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, India, resulted in the deaths of four people and left at least 25 others injured after a series of bus and car collisions. The incident occurred at 4:30 am on Tuesday in the Baldev area due to low visibility caused by fog. Seven buses and three cars were involved in the crash, with three of the deceased found in buses and one in a car. The fire that broke out as a result of the collision has been brought under control, with rescue officials and medical teams swiftly responding to the scene. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken notice of the incident and has dispatched rescue officials to the area. He has also announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and directed the best possible treatment for the injured. A dozen fire tenders and 14 ambulances were deployed to the scene to transfer the injured to the nearest Community Health Centre in Baldev. This incident is not an isolated case, as similar pile-ups have been reported in the region due to low visibility during the winter season. In a similar incident on Monday, a massive pile-up occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Nuh, involving 18 vehicles. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials stated that the chain reaction was triggered when a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck in near-zero visibility. The authorities are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution while driving during the winter months due to the poor visibility caused by fog.
