Foggy Road Tragedy Claims Five Lives in Andhra Pradesh Crash

A devastating car collision on a foggy highway in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district has resulted in the deaths of five members of a family. The victims, including two young children, were traveling from Yemmiganur to Bengaluru when their car collided head-on with another vehicle coming from Adoni around 4:30 am on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Venkatesham (76), his daughter Meenakshi (32), son-in-law Satish (34), and grandchildren Ritwik (4) and Bunnith (5). According to police, the accident occurred on NH-167 at Kotekal village due to heavy early-morning fog, poor visibility, and a sharp curve on the ghat road. Two others, Venkatesham's wife Gangamma and the driver of the other car, Suresh, were injured in the crash. Suresh's condition is critical, and a case has been registered under BNS. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed officials to provide immediate and quality medical care to the injured. He also assured that the government will extend necessary support to the affected families. State transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and other local authorities have also expressed their shock and grief over the tragedy, urging travelers to exercise caution and enforcing stricter safety norms on the roads. Rescue efforts are underway, and local authorities are providing necessary support to the victims' families.
