Four people died in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district after jumping from a halted train following a rumour of a fire on board and were struck by another train.

The deceased were identified as Afreen, 35; Ashad, 4; Shakuntala, 60; and Veerma Devi, 58.

An inquiry has been launched into the incident, and it's reported that no fire was found in the bogey where the rumour originated.

The Patalkot Express, which was approaching from Agra, hit the four passengers who couldn't see it due to a sharp curve.
