Four Men Sentenced to Life for Gruesome Baseball Bat Attack in Ahmedabad's Khadia

Ahmedabad: In a shocking verdict, a sessions court convicted four men for the brutal murder of a 50-year-old man in the city's Khadia area in June 2022. The victim, Rakeshbhai Sureshbhai Mehta, was beaten to death with baseball bats by Montu Gandhi and his accomplices, Jayraj Desai, Vishva Rami, and Sunil Bajaniya, who had formed an unlawful assembly. The deadly attack was reportedly a result of a long-standing dispute between the accused and the victim, who had been threatened by the prime accused, Montu Gandhi, to stay away from the area and his family. The court, led by Additional Sessions Judge BB Jadav, relied on extensive evidence, including eyewitness accounts, CCTV footage, medical records, forensic reports, and call detail records, to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. The court's decision brings closure to the family of the victim, who had been seeking justice for over two years. The four accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy.
