Bengaluru police have reopened an investigation into allegations of large-scale electoral fraud in the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency, following a resident's complaint that fake voters were added to the rolls before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The case, now registered with the police, revives concerns about suspected irregularities in a key constituency. A 39-year-old woman from Nallurhalli alleged that unidentified officials, politicians, and individuals conspired to manipulate the electoral rolls by adding numerous fake names ahead of the polls. She claimed that these bogus entries may have influenced the outcome under the Bengaluru Central Parliamentary Constituency, and demanded a thorough and impartial probe into suspected forgery and falsification of voter rolls prior to the polls. This complaint comes months after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi publicly raised similar allegations in August, citing instances of bulk entries and duplicate registrations. Gandhi's charge sparked a sharp political confrontation, with Bengaluru Central BJP MP PC Mohan dismissing the claims as an 'insult to the people of Bengaluru.' The fresh FIR has reignited the controversy around Mahadevapura's voter rolls, with police expected to examine whether any of the earlier allegations intersect with the latest complaint. The case highlights concerns about democratic integrity and the need for transparency in the electoral process.
