A Delhi court has ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take gangster Anmol Bishnoi into 11-day custody for questioning in connection with a terror conspiracy case. The move comes after Bishnoi was deported from the US and arrested by the NIA upon landing at Delhi's airport. The case against Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, involves serious allegations of conspiracy and terror activities. According to the NIA, a syndicate led by Lawrence Bishnoi and Babbar Khalsa International had planned to raise funds, recruit youth for terrorist acts, and carry out targeted killings in Delhi and other parts of the country. Bishnoi, who was carrying a cash reward of ₹10 lakh, is a proclaimed offender and has been absconding since 2022. He is the 13th co-accused arrested in connection with the terror syndicate led by his brother. Bishnoi has also been accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, shooting outside Salman Khan's house in Bandra, and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The NIA has alleged that Bishnoi had actively aided designated terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in carrying out terrorist activities in the country between 2020 and 2023. Bishnoi's counsel had argued that the investigating material is already in possession of the NIA, but the court observed that the scope of investigation and evidence collected is very wide. A senior Punjab Police officer involved in the Moosewala murder case said that Anmol had worked closely with Goldy Brar and his brother in planning and executing the murder. The Punjab police had also revealed that Anmol had fled India on a fake passport and was living in the US under a fake identity. The Rajasthan Police has registered at least 22 cases against Anmol in the western state, followed by five in Punjab, two in Haryana, and one each in Delhi and Mumbai. The NIA had said that Anmol was wanted in 11 cases across the country.
