In a heartwarming tale of transformation, Kiranbhai Jadav, an 80% physically disabled individual from Anand, Gujarat, has achieved financial independence and self-reliance with the help of the state's welfare schemes. After taking on his family's responsibilities following his father's passing, Jadav was offered a job at the District Support Centre by Collector Praveen Singh Chaudhary. With the government's support, Jadav's life has become more stable, and he has become a valuable asset to the community. Gujarat's loan and support schemes for 'divyang' persons provide financial, educational, and rehabilitation assistance to those with disabilities. The state's initiatives, including the Divyang Pension Scheme, offer monthly pensions, scholarships, and assistance for self-employment and assistive equipment. Jadav's work at the District Support Centre has also earned him recognition for his exceptional guidance and support. Collector Chaudhary emphasizes the importance of breaking stereotypes and providing equal opportunities for all. 'Changing attitudes is very important,' he said. 'Our Constitution provides equal opportunities for all work, and persons with disabilities can perform any job.' Jadav's success story is a testament to the effectiveness of Gujarat's welfare schemes. He benefits from the Divyang Pension Scheme, which provides a monthly pension of ₹1,000 for individuals with over 80% disability until the age of 79. He also avails the 'Divyang Lagna Sahay' programme and the bus pass scheme, offering free travel on buses operated by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. Gujarat's initiatives have not only empowered Jadav but also paved the way for others with disabilities to achieve self-reliance and contribute to the community in meaningful ways.
