Gurugram Police have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly attacking her husband with an axe-like tool, leaving him critically injured. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the couple, who reside in Khoh village, were returning from a temple on a scooter. A man, later identified as the lover, Mankhush (25), pushed their vehicle near a school, causing them to fall. While the husband, Shiv Shankar, was restrained, his wife, Poonam (44), allegedly struck him several times on the face with the tool. The duo then fled, leaving Shankar critically injured. The police investigation began after Shankar's sister-in-law filed a complaint, alleging that the couple's disputes escalated after Shankar discovered Poonam's six-month affair with Mankhush, a colleague at his workplace. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their relationship and the plan to eliminate Shankar due to the domestic disputes. Shankar, a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, works in Manesar and has a son with Poonam, whom he married in 2012. The couple was rushed to the ESIC hospital in Faridabad, where the doctors declared Shankar unfit to give a statement. An attempt to murder case has been registered at the IMT Manesar police station, and the accused are currently in police custody.
